PRACTICE ON KOS
We are opening a practice on Kos- we urgently need donations for it!
Since the cooperation with the local veterinarians does not work, we will start a veterinary practice according to European standards. Because there currently is no medical care for stray animals on the island. Injured and sick animals are not taken care of in a why that was necessary in order to release them to freedom. Sick or gravely injured cats are thus provisionally and badly treated. The animals are for example released right after their leg or tail has been amputated, without knowing for sure that the animal will survive. This is serious negligence and does not promote the well-being of the animals.
Also, the animals are not treated on a long-term basis, because there are only a few people who can administer medication to the animals. Due to this appalling situation, we decided to open up a veterinary practice.
In order to do so, we urgently need donations for the equipment of the clinic. We will be needing an x-ray machine as well as a small laboratory. Our main focus will be to provide medical care and to castrate the animals. This clinic will make it possible for us to take in emergencies thus ensuring the care for the animals over the longer term is given. In addition to that we will have the possibility to look for a home for handicapped and sick animals who wouldn´t be able to survive on their own.
Our team is composed of very experienced vets and veterinary assistants from Germany. The veterinarians have many years of experience. The manager of the practice has even been working with stray animals for 15 years and thus is very experienced in dealing with them.
